Our Summer Camp runs full days from 8am-5pm, Mon-Thur. Each camper will spend their entire day at the rink receiving over 9 hours of ice time, 9 hours of dryland training, age-appropriate training on film, team building exercises, and nutrition with an emphasis on whole athlete development.
Players receive 9 hours of ice time with a focus on edge work, puck protection and control, winning battles, Hockey IQ development, net front presence, and more. Ice sessions are designed to allow for skill progression with a high coach to player ration. Building muscle memory and eliminating bad habits are crucial in development. Our system allows for players to receive individual attention on the small facets of the game that make a difference in team play.
Players will spend 9 hours working on stick handling through various drills that will push them beyond their comfort zone. The game is no longer just played on the ice so improving our players hand eye coordination on and off the playing service is a focus during these times. We will also utilize electronic training aides to help players improve stick speed and shot progression. Each year our players shoot over two thousand pucks and just like on the ice, we ensure a high player to coach ration to provide immediate feedback to eliminate bad habits and drive development.
Hockey relies on individual skill but is successful through team play. Team building is an essential element each day at camp. Improving communication and our players ability to work with others in a fun and positive environment is a priority. Although challenging these blocks of instruction seem to be the best part of a camper's day and really bring the group together. Players building relationships is an essential part of development amongst athletes and these relationships prove to be a lasting part of our players experience.
After a full day of street hockey, kick ball, dress the player team building event, on ice play, film, dryland and more these kids need to get ready for the next day! Nutrition is the most crucial part of developing an athlete. Ensuring our players know good eating habits, how to make a recovery shake or what our body needs before athletic play is often left out of youth athletic development. We ensure you player understands the basics and leaves with some knowledge to make them a better athlete.
Each age group has its own coaching staff dedicated to staying with their group throughout the entire day. Each group is structured with USA Hockey Coaches and often officials serving as head coaches with assistant coaches consisting of current or past local high school and college players. Our coaching staff and their passion to develop youth athletes has always been the cornerstone of our program.
Like everything with the JBL we want your players to have an experience unlike before. We are constantly looking for ways to push the boundaries and develop our athletes in a fun, demanding, and respectful environment. We want your players to return to you with not only some new skills but also a new sense of maturity as a youth athlete.
